TOP 10 MUST-DO SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Summer Bucket List Ideas
1.) Have a Picnic.
With hassle-free preparation, going on a picnic only takes a couple of hours and it's a fun, relaxing activity with family or friends. If you can't find someone who is available, it is the purr-fect opportunity to hang out with a furry friend!
2.) Relax at the Beach.
Nothing quite like the feeling of the sun on your face paired with the cooling breeze coming off of the water. If you aren't close to a beach, go to a family or friend's pool; or your city's pool, for some water fun.
3.) Host a BBQ.
We all know one of the best smells in the neighborhood. That's right, it is the smell of someone grilling. That neighborhood hero could be you! Invite over those who you care about and fire up the grills. The title of Grill-Master is waiting for you!
4.) Stargaze.
Simple, cost-conscious, and extremely enjoyable. Summer is the perfect time to stargaze. If you are in the city, plan a short trip away from the city lights to look at the splendor of our Milky-Way galaxy! According to seasoned star-gazers, the best places to stargaze are national or state parks. Who knows, you may end up seeing a shooting star!
5.) Go to the Zoo.
Chances are that you live relatively close (or extremely close) to a zoo. What better way to spend one of your summer days than supporting the local conservation efforts of a zoo? All while hanging out with some of your favorite furry (and scale-y) friends! Here is a short list of some zoos in our great mitten state: Detroit Zoo, Wilderness Trails Zoo, Potter Park Zoo, and Binder Park Zoo. There are so many more zoos and conservatories in our beautiful state, but let's be honest, if I were to list them all here it would take forever!
6.) Go to an Amusement Park.
Hit the roller coasters, hit the water slides, hit the merry-go-rounds, or whatever other rides you are into! Car-pool with your family and friends and head out for a fun-filled day at one of your favorite destinations.
7.) Have/Attend a Bonfire.
Fan the flames, kick back and relax. Turn up the tunes and grab the marshmallows. One of the other best smells in the neighborhood: bonfires. Just make sure you are burning wood and not your leaf piles.
8.) Watch a Movie at a Drive-In Theater.
Yes, they do still exist. They are few and far between. However, if you can find one nearby, it is definitely worth the trip out. Load up your vehicle and go watch some of the best reels available.
9.) Go Camping for a Weekend.
Michigan is known for its beautiful landscape. We have some of the finest land that this country has to offer. No matter where you live in the state, you are never far from a life-changing camping experience. Look up some local camping sites, load up what you need, and go pitch your tent (or park your R.V.). Happy camping, friends!
10.) Go on a Mini-Vacation.
Based on my experience, so many Michiganders that I have spoken to have never seen many parts of our great state. There are so many highly-recommended destinations that you can look up to pull off a weekend getaway. Look up some places like Traverse City, Port Austin, Holland, Indian River, Ludington, Bay City, Mackinac Island, Isle Royale, and the list goes on and on. Chances are, there are a couple of places in that list I just provided to you that you have never seen. If you have the opportunity, get out there and explore everything this land of ours has to offer.
It would only be right before I end this post that I remind you how important it is to make sure that you have the right insurance in place before traveling. While you are away, you want to make sure your home and property is protected. While you are driving, you want to make sure your vehicle or motorcycle or R.V. is properly protected. And of course, you want to make sure you have adequate health insurance to protect you and your loved ones if something were to happen.
